Discover the diversity of life!

The diversity of life is our planet’s greatest wonder. The exhibition at the “House of Biodiversity” invites all visitors to interactively explore biological diversity, understand its interconnections, experience the changes taking place, and set the course for a sustainable future.

The House of Biodiversity reopened as part of the STEIERMARK SCHAU 2023 and remains open to visitors even now, after the event has ended.

The new “House of Biodiversity” (located in the former Gironcoli Museum) features many hands-on stations that invite visitors to experience the wonders of natural diversity and raise awareness of the important benefits that intact natural cycles provide for us.

The following interactive stations await you:

  • Wolpertinger: Create an animal based on your personal preferences.
  • Eye Butterfly: An iris scan transforms you into a species of butterfly.
  • Sand Table: Create a variety of habitats.
  • The Earth in Our Hands: A rotating globe provides information on biodiversity hotspots and environmental degradation.
  • Research Lab: Become an entomologist and identify native beetle species.

A great tip for rainy weather!

Admission to the exhibition is included with admission to Tierwelt Herberstein!

Dogs are not allowed in the exhibition building. Leash areas are available outside.

The House of Biodiversity opens one hour after the zoo opens and closes one hour before the park closes. Guided tours are available for groups by prior arrangement.
