The Wildlife in Herberstein

The Americas offer a wide variety of habitats—from tropical jungles to the dizzying heights of the mountains to the prairie—that are just as diverse as their inhabitants.

The embodiment of the wilderness—Africa—experience the fastest land mammal hunting at the prey simulator, which was invented in Herberstein, and witness the harmonious coexistence of zebras and wildebeests.

The walk-in aviary is not only home to our African gray parrots and strawberry-headed parakeets, but also to numerous African bird species—primarily those inhabiting the savanna—such as waxbills, weaver birds, and francolins.

Europe is home to native wildlife—such as the lynx, which had long since disappeared from the wild. The wildlife of the Earth's largest continent—Asia—also has a lot to offer.

Due to its remote location, Australia has developed a unique array of wildlife. A sprawling enclosure featuring emus and Bennett's wallabies offers a glimpse of this diversity.

The petting zoo, located right after the entrance to Tierwelt Herberstein, is a big hit with young visitors in particular.
