A warm welcome to the most beautiful workplace in the world—for us, that’s Tierwelt Herberstein in Eastern Styria!

Every single employee gives their all every day to offer our guests an exciting yet relaxing day surrounded by unspoiled nature and plenty of fresh air.

The ticket office team ensures that everything runs smoothly in the entrance area, while the horticulture team is responsible for our gardens and well-maintained green spaces. When you’re feeling peckish, our staff will be happy to assist you at ourdining venues—Zooschenke, Panoramaplatzl, the Simbawelt family restaurant, and the NaschBÄR (food truck). If, after a wonderful day out in Herberstein, you’ve formed a bond with one of your favorite animals, our administrative team will handle your sponsorship inquiries or reservations, and our office staff will be happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Our cleaning staff work hard to keep things clean both in front of and behind the scenes, and they also handle the laundry for our zoological department. The zoological experts—from the veterinarian and zoological director to our zoologist, as well as the enclosure managers and animal caretakers— ensure the well-being of our more than 700 animals. Through its visitor programs, the zoo school educates people of all ages and raises awareness among even our youngest visitors about animal welfare, nature conservation, and species protection.

The feeding kitchen delivers food to all enclosures daily and also handles waste disposal for the entire zoo grounds. Accounting tasks are handled by two female staff members. Our construction crew—the “masters of technology”—handle all tasks related to enclosure construction, maintenance, and any technical challenges that may arise.
