Many thanks to Schönbrunn Zoo and Landau Zoo in the Palatinate, Germany, for nominating us for the Pond Challenge. Our zoological team thoroughly enjoyed participating. Watch the video to find out who we nominated!

A Tour of Herberstein Wildlife Park

Our animal residents are coming to your home!

More than 700 animals from every continent call Tierwelt Herberstein in Eastern Styria home. There’s all sorts of things to discover here: from the tiny strawberry-headed bird in our African aviary to the mighty bison in the North America section.

Now join our highly trained zoo educators on a virtual tour through the animal kingdom. We’ll showcase our diverse animal world on camera and make a stop at selected animal enclosures. Along the way, you’ll learn interesting, unique, and sometimes even curious facts about our permanent animal residents. And shhh—maybe we’ll even spill the beans on some baby news. In any case, the rumor mill is in full swing when it comes to our polar wolf couple.

We’ll also visit the Siamang family, our bison herd, and stop by to see our maned wolf pups. The red pandas are looking their best in the bright sunshine. You ’ll also get to meet our pelican group : Hubert, Herta, Heinrich, and Heidi.
Not far from the pelican pond lies “Eastern Styrian” Africa. On the Africa tour, a visit to our “royal cubs” is, of course, a must. Spartacus, Maximus, and Tiberius are exploring the outdoor enclosure for the first time alongside their mom, Amira, as part of the film shoot. Meanwhile, Dad Caesar is enjoying the peace and quiet in the lion house.

We’ll also take a look around the neighborhood with our camera and show you our cheetah duo. It’s feeding time for our gelada harem . Colloquially, they’re also called blood-chested baboons; they’re native to the highlands of Ethiopia. We ’ll also pay a visit to our zebras .

You might even come across your favorite animal— online, from the comfort of your living room sofa. Let yourself be surprised and get a taste of what a day trip to Herberstein has to offer.

We hope you enjoy this virtual tour of our zoo and look forward to seeing you here soon. For now, let our virtual tour inspire you—it’s sure to build your excitement for your next trip to Herberstein.

Speaking of outings: Our 46-hectare grounds offer more than just local and exotic wildlife to explore. With a guided tour of Herberstein Garden Castle and the magnificently blooming Historic Gardens, there are also great recreational experiences for all visitors beyond Pfote, Tatze & Co. For our youngest guests, there’s plenty of space to run around on our playgrounds. Our monkey slide on the Africa Meadow provides plenty of excitement for young children.
