Native American Festival in Herberstein: Boredom Lurks Outside the Tipi

On Sunday, July 18, 2010!

Photographer: Thomas Lipp, reprinting free of charge

When the sun reaches its highest point around noon, the young guests at Tierwelt Herberstein transform into lively Native Americans and squaws! Together with the “Big City Indians“Drum stories, words of wisdom, and songs are rehearsed until the sun sets on the horizon again in the evening.”

Drumming, stomping, dancing, and singing together is a lot of fun—and you can learn a thing or two about music and Native American culture! Boredom doesn’t stand a chance in front of the tipi! The sound of a Native American drum immediately gets under your skin; it reminds us of the sounds of nature—like thunder, the wind, rain, a river, and the heartbeat of Mother Earth.

To that end, the group “Pachamanka“Latin American music offers a glimpse into the world of Native Americans—authentic and unadulterated. Rediscover yourself in the slow rhythm of the sounds, surrounded by our American wildlife!”

A Native American trail winds through the zoo—featuring fun and exciting stops centered around Native American mythology! Great prizes await the brave Native Americans in the raffle at the end of the trail!

Archery and blowgun shooting, bread baking, and sneaking along the Native American trail are just a few of the activities at our Native American festival—a true “must” for Native American fans!
