Titled “Of Passionate Encounters and Harmonious Couples,” a special guided tour will take place at Tierwelt Herberstein on Saturday, February 17, at 3:30 p.m. This tour is for adults only and features juicy details about the love lives of our animal residents.
Who meets whom only once in a lifetime? Who expresses love loudly, and who quietly? Who is monogamous, and who prefers to love many? The love lives of animals are colorful and diverse. Our Valentine’s Day tour for ages 18 and up offers a glimpse into this world.
Elly the spurred tortoise is one of the loudest lovers; no one moans as beautifully as he does. Caesar the lion is the most enduring, and Paibi the gelada is the gigolo among the zoo’s residents and must—or is allowed to—satisfy the largest number of ladies.
The most romantic of all the animals in our care is Herbert the polar wolf. It was love at first sight back in 2018 when Bjelle, a female polar wolf, arrived in Styria and was paired with Herbert. Every day, he spoils Bjelle with tender nudges with his nose and a gentle lick across her eye and ear.
But we won't give away any more at this point. You can find more juicy details there:
