Inca Thanksgiving Celebration for the Whole Family

Sunday, September 2, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.

The llamas invite you to join their parade through the zoo.

At Herberstein Wildlife Park, an unparalleled variety of species enchants visitors of all ages. Over 130 animal species and countless plants are waiting to be discovered. The park also offers a fantastic range of activities for families, children, and schools—this year, it’s all about the Incas! In the expansive natural habitat, pumas bask in the sun, bears and monkeys go about their daily routines, and macaws crow their joy of life to the world. And what do these animals have in common? They were considered divine!

Inca Thanksgiving Festival on September 2
To give visitors to Tierwelt Herberstein a glimpse into rituals of the past, the park has come up with something special to mark the end of the “Divine Animals of the Incas” theme year: the Inca Thanksgiving Festival on September 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.!

Workshops and Sounds of the Past
On this special day, Inca-inspired dishes will be served at the park’s restaurants; at noon, a llama parade will wind its way through the zoo; Inca music performed by Latin Americans in traditional costumes will create a fantastic atmosphere; and several stations will invite visitors to get involved:workshops on drumming, making music, Inca knot writing,  making dreamcatchers, and archery provide plenty of variety! And, of course, our sacred animals—the puma, spectacled bear, llama, and others—take center stage.
