Animal Support for the Hütteldorf Residents: SK Rapid Becomes Puma Sponsor at Tierwelt Herberstein

SK Rapid may not have a tiger, but it does have two pumas in its ranks: To mark the premium partnership with Puma and 11teamsports, which begins in the summer of 2021/22, the Green-and-Whites have taken on the sponsorship of the Puma pair at the Herberstein Wildlife Park.

The puma, also known as the mountain lion, is a true all-rounder. From semi-desert to mountain forest, this record-holding leaper can handle almost any conditions. This is a valuable trait that’s often sought after in soccer as well. Fittingly, starting with the 2021–22 season, this versatile big cat will also grace the jerseys of SK Rapid players, as the world-renowned and beloved sportswear manufacturer Puma—together with team sports specialist 11teamsports—will take over as SK Rapid’s official outfitter and also become a premium partner of the Green-and-Whites.

To mark this occasion and to celebrate this shared milestone in a fitting manner, SK Rapid has now become the sponsor of two very lively pumas. The pair—a male named Seal and a female named Missoula—lives at Tierwelt Herberstein, where they are among the approximately 85 animal species representing all five continents. A Rapid delegation recently visited the two pumas and formalized the sponsorship.

SK Rapid Managing Director of Business Affairs Christoph Peschek: “With our new equipment supplier Puma and 11teamsports, a new era is dawning in Hütteldorf, and we are very pleased to be able to secure another premium partnership, especially in times like these. To celebrate this, we have decided on a symbolic gesture in the form of sponsoring the Puma pair at Tierwelt Herberstein. In this way, we want to express our joy about the partnership while also making a sustainable contribution to this historic, regionally rooted zoo and its efforts in the field of species conservation.”

Doris Wolkner-Steinberger, CEO of Tierwelt, is also pleased with the successful collaboration: “The puma is a powerful, dynamic, and beautiful animal, which makes this big cat the perfect mascot for a soccer club.”

About Herberstein Wildlife Park

Keeping wild animals has been a centuries-old tradition in Herberstein. While the 17th century saw the first breeding of fallow deer in Austria, the Herberstein Wildlife Park is now a zoo managed according to scientific principles, home to animals from all over the world, and dedicated to a wide range of species conservation and wildlife protection efforts.
