This was celebrated today with a summer festival attended by State Councilor for Tourism Barbara Eibinger-Miedl. Among the numerous guests of honor, Tierwelt Managing Director Doris Wolkner-Steinberger also welcomed Amira’s sponsor, SPAR Managing Director Christoph Holzer. “Our pair of lions belongs to the Berber lion species, which is already extinct in the wild. Thanks to SPAR’s generous support, a contribution is also being made toward species conservation,” reports Doris Wolkner-Steinberger.
Expanded range of services for guests
A special feature awaits young families. “The newly built diaper-changing and nursing hut provides a quiet retreat with the necessary privacy. This makes Tierwelt Herberstein even more family-friendly and better suited to our young guests,” says Provincial Councilor Barbara Eibinger-Miedl.
Improvements to Access and the Online Ticket System: Now you can get into Tierwelt even faster
During the winter months, a new access concept—including a traffic-calmed zone in the entrance area—was implemented. With the addition of an extra entrance, the “Zebra Entrance,” wait times can be significantly reduced.
To manage the influx of guests and offer even better service, an online ticketing system was also implemented. In this way, Doris Wolkner-Steinberger and her team are taking advantage of the digital age: “Anyone who wants guaranteed access to the animal world without waiting in line can order an online ticket from home and download it to their smartphone or print it out. This allows them to pass through the turnstile immediately,” says the managing director.
During the three-month construction phase, additional asphalting and paving work was carried out on the grounds, and an electric vehicle charging station was installed. The charging station is available free of charge to all visitors during opening hours. “These latest investments will contribute to the continued positive development of Tierwelt Herberstein and strengthen its position as a tourist magnet in the region,” said State Councilor Eibinger-Miedl.
Visitors can currently see many baby animals. New arrivals can be admired, among other places, among the Dschelada family, in the zebra enclosure, at the petting zoo, and in the South American House.
