The four female timberwolf pups were born at the Zoo de la Boissière du Doré near Nantes and, after their relocation, moved into their own enclosure in Eastern Styria . The two female timberwolves who had been living there previously have moved into the “senior residence,” away from visitors, due to their ages of 12 and 13, respectively.
In addition to the timber wolves, the zoo is also home to a Hudson Bay wolf pack and a polar wolf pack, for a total of 11 animals. Not only during a full moon, but also every Saturday at noon—when the fire department sirens sound—the wolves break into a chorus of howls. We’ll have to wait a little longer to hear their French voices; the timber wolves will find their pitch during their second year of life.
It's not just the Isegrims that are welcoming new arrivals— baby animals have also been born. At the petting zoo, the newborn goat kids are causing quite a stir, and four bison calveshave joined our herd on the American continent.
Visitors can admire the new arrivals daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Starting May 8, the mask requirement will be relaxed. “An FFP-2 mask is required in the entrance area, in all indoor areas, at food service establishments, in exposed areas of the trail network, at heavily visited enclosures, and wherever a 2-meter distance cannot be maintained,” explains Tierwelt CEO Doris Wolkner-Steinberger, asking all visitors for their cooperation in enforcing this rule.
