There’s been a new addition at the Herberstein Wildlife Park! Ten days ago, a rhea chick named “Piepsi” was born. And as is customary among rheas, the father takes care of the brood and raises the chicks. But “Piepsi’s” rhea dad has been acting more like an absent father so far. He has completely neglected the little one and has only taken care of the stronger brother. A foster mother is needed.
Animal caretaker Silvia Zechner took the little bird under her wing and force-fed it with a pipette. “Piepsi” is on the mend again. Veterinarian Dr. Reinhard Pichler is taking another close look at the little rascal’s health. Will “Piepsi” really pull through?
