The new baby monkey at the East Styrian Wildlife Park weighs about 500 grams and is only about 20 centimeters tall. For its parents, Yala and Neslon, this is already their fourth “child.” Veterinarian Reinhard Pichler said, “The birth went smoothly, and the monkey mom was already proudly showing off her baby to the zookeepers early Monday morning. We were already expecting Yala to have a baby; she already had a visible baby bump.”
The new baby monkey in Herberstein has experienced parents who lovingly care for the little one. It doesn’t have a name yet, as its gender is still unknown. And its 6-year-old brother, Saburo, shows no sign of jealousy—which isn’t always a given in the animal kingdom!
Baby monkeys, with their human-like traits, their clumsy movements, and their innocent gazes, are a special attraction and instantly win the hearts of our visitors.
