On Saturday, observant visitors spotted a three-colored “lucky cat” perched about 10 meters up in a tree. The tree stood in the middle of the wolf enclosure, “guarded” by five curious wolves. The animal keepers made the first attempt at a rescue, but they were unable to reach the cat.
So outside help was needed: the St. Johann Volunteer Fire Department was called, and an animal-loving firefighter was able to rescue the cat using an extension ladder. Of course, the wolves had been locked away before the rescue, so there was no danger whatsoever to the rescuers.
Looking for the owner
The rescued cat, whom the rescuers named “Molly,” is now waiting at the zoo for her owner. Molly is tricolor, very affectionate, and has only one eye left.
