Animal welfare expert Frank Weber has been helping animals in need for years on the show “Hundkatzemaus” on the German network VOX. This time, he was looking for a home for Gina, a young female bear. Little is known about her background; her last owner was a private individual from Wiesbaden who already had a domesticated bear, but the two bears were unable to get along. In his search for a suitable home, Frank Weber contacted the Herbergsstein Animal Sanctuary ( Tierwelt Herberstein ).

“Since our siamang monkeys moved into a new house this summer, we were able to accommodate Gina in the old monkey house—hardly any modifications were necessary. In the winter, she shares the house with the turtles. Of course, we’re looking for a companion for her so she doesn’t have to stay alone!” says Reinhard Pichler, the zoological director in Herberstein.

Frank Weber personally brought the sloth bear to Herberstein and expressed his gratitude for the quick assistance: “Finding a home for an animal in need doesn’t always go so quickly and smoothly! Gina has found a perfect, species-appropriate home in Herberstein.”
