He came, saw, and roared…in the truest sense of the word. After a smooth transport, the impressive cub arrived in Eastern Styria and moved into “Caesar’s Palace,” his new lion enclosure. “We are overjoyed that Caesar is now with us and that we’re kicking off the season with him as a major draw for visitors,” said Managing Director Doris Wolkner-Steinberger.
Caesar, a Barbary lion, was born on November 13, 2015, at Plättli Zoo in Switzerland, where he spent his first few months with his parents, Louis and Lisa, and his sister, Cleo. The cub is still growing and currently weighs just under 100 kg.
Caesar was lured out of his transport crate with juicy pieces of meat, and he had his first feeding in the afternoon. Caesar curiously explored his lion enclosure, and starting next week, he’ll set out on a journey of discovery in the outdoor enclosure. A reunion with his mate Simba is not currently planned.
