A First: Tierwelt Herberstein Welcomes Its 200,000th Guest!

There was a festive atmosphere in Herberstein: Today, Tourism Commissioner Hermann Schützenhöfer welcomed the 200,000th visitor of 2014. During the “Open House,” 7,966 guests enjoyed an exciting day at Tierwelt Herberstein in Eastern Styria, bringing the park within reach of a new all-time visitor record.

The Hofstätter family from Vorau was welcomed as the 200,000th guest by Deputy Governor Hermann Schützenhüfer and Managing Director Doris Wolkner.

Records in the animal kingdom are well known: the cheetah is the fastest runner, the lion is the biggest sleeper, and the puma jumps the highest. But this year, the zoo itself has also set an unprecedented visitor record: on Sunday, Tourism Commissioner Hermann Schützenhöfer and Zoo Director Doris Wolkner-Steinberger welcomed the 200,000th guest—the Hofstätter family from Vorau.

Deputy Governor Hermann Schützenhöfer: “In recent years, Tierwelt Herberstein has become a leading regional attraction and one of Styria’s most popular destinations. I would like to thank the entire team for their tremendous dedication and extend my heartfelt congratulations to the management on reaching 200,000 enthusiastic visitors.”

“Since we’re also open in the winter, we’ll likely see a few thousand more guests. We’re very proud of this result, which we’ve all—from the groundskeeper to the cleaning staff—worked so hard to achieve!” says Managing Director Doris Wolkner-Steinberger.

Winter hours: Open from November 3, Thursday through Sunday and on holidays.
