“After two colts were born over the past two years, we’re delighted to welcome our first filly,” said Tierwelt director Doris Wolkner-Steinberger. There are estimated to be only about 250 individuals of this endangered species left worldwide.

However, the number of animal residents at the Herberstein Petting Zoo hasn’t just increased by the addition of the baby donkey. Two more even-toed ungulates have moved in. Earlier this week, two llamas from the Bernburg Zoo in Germany were relocated to Eastern Styria.
