In addition to the adult male, the group includes 10 adult females and 18 young animals born last year. With his beautiful, twisted horns and dark brown back, our male seems to be thoroughly enjoying his harem of females at Tierwelt Herberstein.

Typically, the mothers set their young down in a hollow or a sheltered spot in the lower part of the enclosure and visit them only to nurse them. But what’s particularly striking about this year’s birthing season is that the moms set their babies down in the upper part of the enclosure—very close to the visitors.
