There is another regional novelty at the zoo’s dining establishments. To continually expand the range of offerings with regional products, the beverage EVAN—produced in Gralla, Styria—has been added to the lineup.

For the past 9 years, the food and beverage operations have been managed as Simbawelt Shop-und Gastronomiebetriebs GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Styrian State Zoo, and are also headed by Zoo Director Doris Wolkner-Steinberger. “I really enjoy working on every aspect of the zoo, but the food service division is my passion,” says the energetic managing director.
