From Apes to Humans: Free Guided Tour Every Thursday!

Every Thursday, Dr. Adolf Heschl from the University of Graz will explain the evolution of our species during a fascinating tour of the zoo.

The "blot test" is used to assess siamangs' self-recognition.

Visitors to the Tierwelt Herberstein will soon have the opportunity to explore the evolution from ape to human through many living examples, right in the heart of the zoo!

The university is coming to the zoo, so to speak, bringing science to life! A scientific tour featuring practical and living examples! The tour lasts about 2 hours and is included in the admission price! It not only takes you to all of our monkey families, but also gives you a glimpse of the dangerous, predatory lions and analyzes the clever African gray parrots.

Do you want to know why animals perceive the world the way we do and why plants can’t? Why can monkeys imitate their own kind? Why can parrots learn to speak?

Dr. Adolf Heschl from the University of Graz provides the answers during the weekly guided tour: Every Thursday, starting May 5, 2011
Start: 1:00 p.m.
Meeting point: Entrance
No registration required!

(Guided tour canceled on September 15, 22, and 29, 2011)
